With less than a week to go before the digital release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, Nintendo has dropped a brand-new trailer that’s well worth getting excited about.
In it, we get our first proper look at the stunning new outfits for Pyra and Mythra. Each costume can be acquired by scanning the characters’ associated amiibo, or earned in-game through the new Merc Assault mode. We also caught our first glimpse of a brand-new Blade, M.O.M.O., who features two distinct forms — one light-attribute and one dark-attribute — giving players exciting new strategic options.
The trailer also showcases the new Merc Assault mode in action. In this mode, players can deploy up to six Blades of their choosing and directly control them during missions, swapping between them on the fly for dynamic, fast-paced gameplay.
When speaking about the new Blade, Monolith Soft shared the following:
A new Blade “M.O.M.O. (Momo)” (CV: Rumi Shishido) joins the fray, breaking through the boundaries of the series. “M.O.M.O.” is a light-attribute Blade who also handles recovery, excelling in perception and observation. She attacks by hurling “U-kun” like a weaponized ball.
“M.O.M.O.” has two forms: “Actual Mode” and “Imaginary Mode.” After switching modes, the Imaginary Mode “M.O.M.O. :i (Momo Imaginary)” changes to the dark attribute. Mode switching can be done freely on the character screen or during battle.
