Revealed as part of Summer Game Fest, a new Resident Evil remake is officially in the works — and it’s one that’s very familiar to Nintendo fans.
First released in 2000 and later ported to the Nintendo GameCube in 2003 as Resident Evil – Code: Veronica X, the classic survival horror title is being fully rebuilt for modern audiences as Resident Evil Veronica.
Aside from confirmation that the game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027, Capcom has shared very few details so far beyond the announcement trailer.
Speaking of which, the trailer can be found here:
Since Resident Evil Veronica’s official reveal, CAPCOM had the following to say, as part of an official press release:
Resident Evil Veronica Makes Its Spine-Tingling Entrance at Summer Game Fest 2026
Resident Evil Veronica, a remake of the beloved classic Resident Evil™ Code: Veronica, was announced for release in 2027 at Summer Game Fest! The next chapter in the iconic Resident Evil™ survival horror series features the return of fan-favourite heroine Claire Redfield and will release across PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch™ 2, and PC via Steam.
Resident Evil Veronica will draw players into a desperate escape filled with horror and madness through the isolated, zombie-filled Rockfort Island. Developed on Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE, the game will introduce modernised gameplay with a chilling level of realism designed to push survival horror to new heights.
We’ll have much more to share in the near future, so stay tuned!
