Releases on October 23, 2026.

Following persistent rumours, Nintendo has officially confirmed via X that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The game is scheduled to release on October 23, 2026. Pricing and pre-order details have not yet been revealed, but Nintendo has confirmed that more information will arrive “later this summer.” It has also been confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will support mouse controls, cross-progression, and full crossplay.

The latest instalment in the Modern Warfare sub-series is being developed by Infinity Ward. It is rumoured to continue the story from Modern Warfare 3, with a major focus on the Korean Peninsula. The game will also launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, as Activision has confirmed there will be no last-generation console versions.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is planned as this year’s mainline release. Infinity Ward shared the following message on X:

Gameplay is king in #MW4 Multiplayer. We’ve built our most fluid movement suite to date with hundreds of new additions to gameplay and weapon mechanics. We’re launching with iconic, visually distinct maps ranging from 6v6 and Gunfight to large-scale experiences. Classic Perk structure. Apex Attachments. Two Prestige paths. So much more to share.

About Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4:

This next installment pushes the action into darker and more dangerous missions, where consequence and escalation bring long-running storylines to a powerful and emotional breaking point. In Campaign, players will drop into a variety of engagements — from trench warfare in Korea to high-octane chases through Paris and close-quarters combat in New York. Multiplayer1 will deliver grounded, precise combat where fluid movement, player choice and greater control define every engagement. In DMZ, every extraction run into contested territory forces hard choices about which objectives to pursue, what to secure, and when to get out.
