About Yoshi and the Mysterious Book:

Discover a world of quirky creatures

Play as Yoshi and help a mysterious talking book named Mr. E remember the creatures living within his pages. Open him up, explore colorful habitats, and experiment with each creature to learn all kinds of surprising facts across every page.

On your journey, you might find Bowser Jr. popping up in habitats! What could he be up to…?

Meet the characters: Get to know the friends and rivals of this tale.

  • Yoshi: Yoshi and his friends are ready to delve into Mr. E’s pages and discover what mysterious creatures live there.
  • Mr. E: After crash landing on Yoshi’s Island, this mysterious talking book has forgotten what’s in his own pages.
  • Bowser Jr.
& Kamek: This troublesome pair are searching for something within Mr. E, stirring up mischief wherever they appear.

variety of colors.
  • ???: Burrows underground and breaks rocks with ease.
  • ???: Likes to relax and catch fish, no matter how big they are.
  • ???: Can be picked up and thrown like a dart.
  • ???: Can be held up in the air, allowing you to float slowly downwards.

Make exciting discoveries: Hop into a creature’s habitat and interact with it to learn its characteristics and abilities. Smash it, carry it around, even give it a taste! Who knows what you’ll find? Some discoveries can help you learn about other creatures, including things from previous chapters you might have missed…

  • What happens when it inhales something? This creature spits out a Smiley Flower when it inhales a Crazee Dayzee, but it doesn’t seem to care for Yoshi.
  • How does it react to Yoshi? This creature pops when you jump on its head or gobble it up. You can even use it to blow a bubble.

Find your next big discovery: Each habitat has a big discovery to uncover. Once you find it, you’ll be able to move on to the next area. But that doesn’t mean your exploration has to be over. You’ll also get some hints about discoveries you haven’t made yet.

Use moves to make discoveries: Yoshi has a few egg-cellent tricks he can toss out—sometimes literally! Use different moves to find out how various creatures react, which can lead to a new discovery.

  • Gobble: Taste a creature with Yoshi’s tongue and possibly turn it into an egg.
  • Throwing Eggs: After gobbling creatures, you can throw eggs at other creatures or objects.
  • Flutter Jump and Ground Pound: If you jump or start to fall, Flutter Jump to hover for a bit. While mid-air, you can Ground Pound creatures below you.
  • Tail Flick: Put creatures or objects on Yoshi’s back with a flick of the tail. Repeat the move to throw or perform a special action with the creature you’re carrying.
  • Sprint: Move for a while in the same direction to break into a sprint. If a creature is riding on Yoshi’s back, it might react.
  • Observe: Sometimes it’s good to hang back and watch how a creature behaves. You can also duck to stay out of the way.

Get your fortune read with amiibo: Tap a compatible amiibo™ figure* each day to get your fortune read by Mr. E. You’ll earn in-game tokens based on which fortune you receive, which you can use to unlock hints about discoveries.
