First announced in 2016 as a joint effort between Cygames and PlatinumGames, Granblue Fantasy: Relink was released on February 1, 2024 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Now, a new console can be added to that list.
Set to release on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 9, 2026, Granblue Fantasy: Relink is returning in a big way thanks to a brand-new expansion. Titled Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, this expansion brings a wealth of new content, including challenging new bosses, an all-new solo mode called The Conflux, summon-based battle mechanics, new Master Traits, and several fresh characters.
For anyone worried the new content would be Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, you’re in luck. The Endless Ragnarok expansion is also coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. If you already own the base game, you can upgrade with the Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok Upgrade Kit instead of purchasing the whole game again.
Of the new characters added, we have Beatrix, Eustace, Galanza, and Maglielle. Thanks to the recent Closed Beta Test, we had the chance to go hands-on with Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok, and we’re already hooked. Having been big fans of Cygames’ Dragalia Lost on mobile, we’ve been looking for a new Cygames title to fill that void — and we might have just found it.
Beatrix, in particular, stands out as an absolute blast to play. From her swift strikes and hard-hitting combos to her powerful Support Skills and Skybound Art, she feels incredibly satisfying and fluid. That should come as no surprise for a character whose “ferocity when facing primal beasts is rivaled only by her insatiable hunger for glory.” She proves to be a vital asset in large-scale fights, making her a welcome addition to the roster.
Furthermore, Beatrix’s unique Delta Clock mechanic lets her cycle through personal buffs — such as increased attack or defence — by holding the attack button. Landing combo finishers builds a meter that, when full, activates a high-speed mode, dramatically boosting her attack speed. Thus, each fighter is formidable in their own right, and the new characters — along with the ones that came before them — show that Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok truly has a playstyle for everyone.
In the Closed Beta Test, besides playing as Beatrix, we had access to a tutorial and three challenges. One, Protect Our Woods, throws you into a horde of enemies. Another, I See a Deathly Vision, pits you against a boss and minions. The last, Hide and Chic, has you facing a giant ice dragon. Naturally, our favourite and most-played quest was Hide and Chic, because what better way to test Beatrix than throwing her at a colossal monster?
For those who prefer playing solo, you can set matchmaking to private and include CPU characters in your party. While this makes quests noticeably harder, it’s still very enjoyable. Cross-play, by the way, worked near flawlessly in our testing.
In conclusion, with promising performance and fast-paced gameplay, Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is shaping up to be a must-have Nintendo Switch 2 title. July 9, 2026, can’t come fast enough.
