Thanks to a brand new announcement from Nintendo, accompanied by two videos, it has been revealed that big changes are on the way to the Pikmin series. Firstly, a new update is said to be in the works for Pikmin 4, which is due to release in November and implements a couple of new features. One of the biggest changes is the addition of Decor Pikmin, previously introduced to us in Pikmin Bloom.
However, these new Decor Pikmin can, in fact, be transferred to the mobile application. New creature activity levels are also being added, and an updated demo, which includes the new features, is also being released. Additionally, it has also been revealed that Ice Pikmin are being added to Pikmin Bloom on November 1, 2025. For the full details and videos, we have it all right here:

This latest update to the game adds content for new and returning players to explore:
- Decor Pikmin: Originally seen in the Pikmin Bloom1 smart-device app, these curious Pikmin are marching their way to Pikmin 4. Decor Pikmin (like the name implies) are Pikmin that don some form of decoration found in the world – you may see them wearing something like a wind-up toy, a doughnut, a snow hat and much more. Decor Pikmin you gather in the new Pikmin 4 update can also be transferred to your squad in Pikmin Bloom, including some that are completely new!
- Field Camera: Take stylish photos of your character, your squad and whatever you like with this new feature. Set the scene with various angles, hide characters, and decorate your pics with filters, frames and stamps. The camera may even be the key to adding Decor Pikmin to your crew …
- New Creature Activity Levels: Move at your own pace and enjoy the new Relaxed mode, where creatures won’t attack unless you attack them, or kick things up a notch in the fiery Fierce mode. These modes can be selected when starting a new game or changed at any point after from the game’s settings.
In more Pikmin news, Pikmin Bloom is welcoming Ice Pikmin to the app coinciding with the app’s fourth anniversary. Ice Pikmin were first discovered by explorers in Pikmin 4. Check out the video here: https://youtu.be/2aMlv5rEu2I.

Guide pint-sized creatures in an endearing expedition! — Meet Pikmin: small, plantlike creatures with distinct abilities that you can grow, pluck, guide, and overpower enemies with! Use your Pikmin’s miniature might (and a bit of strategy) to explore this mysterious planet in search of your crew—and treasure.
Lead your loyal and curious squad — To succeed, you’ll have to balance caring for the Pikmin with leading them into dangerous situations. Do your best out there!
Grow — Pikmin grow from pellets and wildlife that you can bring to your ship. Pluck them from the ground to have them join you. Go team!
Guide — Lead your squad through vast explorable areas to find treasures, discover new paths, and battle enemies of all sizes. You can also direct the Pikmin to collect and carry resources that are helpful for your mission. Up to three Pikmin types can be with you in the field at a time—the rest will hang back until you need them.
Gather — When their task is done, the Pikmin will wait in place for you. Get close and blow your whistle to summon them to your side! This handy action can also help you protect the Pikmin from danger, do a headcount, or simply bring them with you to your next task.
Meet the Pikmin — A mysterious mix of plant and animal, these creatures are loyal, clever, and ready to follow your lead. Be sure to call forward the right ones for the job
Red Pikmin: Fire is no sweat to these feisty creatures. Red Pikmin make a strong first line of attack.
Blue Pikmin: Happy on land and in water. When the going gets wet, fling them into action to transport treasure or combat a creature
Yellow Pikmin: Shockingly great at smashing electrified gates or directing currents. They can dig really well and get awesome air when thrown, too.
Ice Pikmin: These cool new buds can freeze enemies in their tracks. They can also freeze a body of water, allowing others to cross.
Glow Pikmin: These strange new Pikmin thrive in the dark, but can also turn into a ball of light so shiny, it can stun enemies!
Purple Pikmin: Whoa—a single Purple Pikmin has the strength and weight of 10 regular Pikmin! Because of this extra oomph, Purple Pikmin can stun enemies when thrown and carry heavier objects. It also makes them slower on their feet.
Rock Pikmin: These sturdy Pikmin are heavy and unbreakable—perfect for smashing crystals or dealing with large, stompy enemies.
Winged Pikmin: High-flying Pikmin that can carry stuff over water and lift obstructions. They’re also good at battling enemies that can fly.
White Pikmin: Careful—these speedy little ones are poisonous! On the plus side, they can take on toxic environments better than others.
The Rescue Corps needs you! — Customize your own explorer and lead the charge each day to find your crew and fix the Rescue Corps ship, the S.S. Shepherd.
Track down your crew—and others — Find and rescue your Rescue Corps crew and other castaways who find themselves in a bind.
Explore caves — Strategize your way through multiple floors of puzzles and critters. Time seems to work differently when you’re exploring caves, so there’s no need to rush.
Collect resources — Treasures are a great source of Sparklium, the mysterious element that powers the S.S. Shepherd. You can also collect raw materials that are handy for construction in the field, or build new equipment to make exploring more manageable!
Rescue Command Post — Take your time to prepare for the day’s excursion! You can chat with Rescue Corps members and castaways, accept side missions, and build new equipment to assist you on your expedition. You can also choose to go on Night Expeditions from here.
Who’s a good Oatchi? Oh, yes you are! — Resident good boy and dependable partner Oatchi can help get the job done throughout your adventure. You can even train this Rescue Pup to become more helpful!
With the Pikmin and a powerful pup at your side, no challenge is too big!
Giddyup! — Your explorer and Pikmin can hop on Oatchi’s back for a ride. Plus, Oatchi can jump!
Clear obstacles — This pup is more than happy to create a path forward by digging and smashing through parts of the environment.
Go fetch — Oatchi can retrieve stuff and drag it back to where you need it. Drop. Droooooop. Good boy!
Divide and conquer — If you need to split up, you can give orders to Oatchi to take care of business elsewhere.
Tricks of the trade — Every in-game day brings different adventures, but there’s only so much you can do before you must return to the safety of your ship at night. Remember: If you can’t get everything done that you wanted, there’s always tomorrow.
Rewind and retry — Something go sideways? No worries! Give yourself a do-over with the new Rewind Time feature and try a different approach.
Bring your ship to you — There are multiple landing spots for your personal ship, the S.S. Beagle, in each of the expansive areas you can explore. Once you find a spot, you can freely land there. Helpful for cutting down time going to and from your ship!
Stay safe at night — When alone, Pikmin are easy prey at night. Keep them safe by returning them to your ship before it gets dark. If you can’t make it back in time, simply whistle the Pikmin in the field to your side—if they’re with you, they’re protected!
Dandori Challenges — “Dandori” is a practice centered around planning things out in advance and working efficiently. (You can even put good dandori to work for you in your daily life!)
In your expedition, you’ll come across Dandori Battles and Challenges. Use your time wisely and efficiently to collect the most items before time runs out!
Bring a friend — Two players on the same system* can work together or battle it out.
Dandori Battle — Take on—or team up with—a second player to collect the most items before time runs out. Who will reign supreme?
Co-Op Mode — Get help from a second player in the Story mode! Using an on-screen pointer, your co-op buddy can throw pebbles at enemies to stun them and unleash helpful items in your inventory.
