Ryan Drewry: (Director of Hunters Moon Games)

Name/Known Alias: I go by Ryan to my friends or I am Rys Artorius online.

Occupation: So along with being company director at Hunter’s Moon as well as the programmer, animator and producer, I am actually a bartender as a side gig.

Best Known for/Notable Works: Currently the only one that comes to mind is Dreaded Wonder.

Fun Fact: Much to the disbelief of many, including friends and family, I have no sense of smell.

How did you make your break into the industry: Currently still on the journey with making my break into the industry with Hunter’s Moon. Found a lack of jobs that could use my skills in indie development. So breaking into the industry with my own very own job and studio made the most sense.

Favourite Projects to have Worked on: Just how it evolves. Going kind of deep into parts of it that university never touched on and then getting to the point where we understand them fully. Incorporating narrative into it through the use of kind of clever little tricks and tactics in engine and having people actually notice them when we go to events.

Hardest Projects to have Worked on: Honestly it comes down to organization. I have always been a slacker in terms of getting myself organized and when it came to running a company this was an overwhelming force for me but I have over time and with the help of my friends they are just as much leading this as I am in terms of keeping me on top of things. If I didn’t have them to check me I would be a jumble of sticks on the floor.

Currently Working on: So while we’re currently working on Dreaded Wonder all members of the team have supplied their own IP idea for future IP releases that we might work on. So look forward to those in future.

Currently Playing: I spend most of my time playing a lot of games with not just members of my own team but also going across to other teams I know from Tranzfuser.

So we play a lethal company and my current game I’m looking forward to play soon is Still Wakes the Deep. Very nice.

Currently Watching: I am currently watching Arcane Season 2. Go watch it if you haven’t. Very nice. This is not a paid thing.

Defining Career Moment: It’s currently been meeting, talking and showing our game off to Sean Mendon, the voice of Scratch in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Throughout your career, of the many things you have since learned, is there anything you wish you knew at the beginning: Along with learning to properly organize my own stuff it would be how to navigate the business world.

As soon as you get shoved onto that .gov setup it immediately drains the blood out of your face and I wish I learned a little bit more prior to that. I come from a very creative background. I have not a lot of experience in the business but it’s a learn as you go process and I’m not alone in this.

Daniel, my fellow programmer, helps a lot with this aspect of it. If you had the opportunity to work with any IP, that is any IP, what would it be? Keeping in line with horror for now, my answer would be the Amnesia devs. Frictional Games would be an incredible people to work with, especially if they made SOMA 2, still one of my favorite games from them.

If you had the opportunity to work with any IP, what would it be: I’d have to say Hidetaka Miyazaki who is the director of all of the Souls games as well as the Armored Core, mostly because of his brilliant and genius mind when it comes to telling stories and I’d love to know what it’s like to work alongside him. But if we’re branching out to people I’d like to work with, I would say more voice actors. As our game develops hopefully I’ll get the chance to do so.

Is there anyone you haven’t worked with yet, but would like to: I don’t know. Like, I’d like to work with, I’d like to do some like music collaborations, I think. Um, so that’d be fun because I’ve not done too much like music with other people, so I think that’d be a fun thing to do.

For fans of your work, who’d like to get in touch and stay up to date with all the latest news, what are the best places for them to reach you on: So we have socials, so to reach us it’ll probably be atting us on Twitter or X, giving us a DM in Instagram or Blue Sky, messaging us through Facebook or joining our community Discord server in which you can come talk to me directly.
