Nintendo has published their financial results ending March 31, 2024, closing out the fiscal year. This means that the latest sales numbers over the last three months from December 31, 2023, to March 31, 2024 have been shared, as well as how the last year has fared in comparison to the previous fiscal year.

In regards to the Nintendo Switch, sales have notably slowed with the current total of worldwide sales at 141.32 million, going up by only 1.9 million or so from the last financial release report three months ago.

While hardware sales may be on the decline, software sales seem to be going relatively steady, according to Nintendo.  A good number of first-party titles and partner publisher titles have easily surpassed one million units sold on the system, including Princess Peach Showtime! (1.22 million) and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong (1.12 million). As for games that were released last year, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is sitting at 20.61 million, Pikmin 4 is at 3.48 million, and Super Mario RPG at 3.31 million.

What do you think of Nintendo’s latest sales numbers? Nintendo has already confirmed that they will be revealing more about their next console later on in the year and that there will be a Nintendo Direct in June to talk about games coming to the later half of 2024 but it does feel like we are approaching the twilight years for the console. Do you feel the same way, or do you think the Switch still has some life in it yet? Let us know what you think in the comments!
