“Detective Grimoire once more!”

WASD Live 2024 is over and the doors are closed until the next event, but the fun is far from over. With many games played and lots of developers and publishers to speak to, in today’s Best of, we’re putting the spotlight on The Mermaid Mask:

Best of WASD | The Mermaid Mask: (SFB Games)

While SFB Games might be better known for developing the 2017 Nintendo Switch launch title, Snipperclips – Cut it out, together!, it would be a sin to forget their involvement with the Detective Grimoire series.

Having started in 2007 as a flash game, the first Detective Grimoire games debuted on Newgrounds and Armor Games. While SFB (Super Flash Bros), would eventually deem the first Detective Grimoire game as being a prototype and was not considered a main series title, the series would flourish regardless with 2014’s Detective Grimoire: Secret of the Swamp, 2019’s Tangle Tower and now 2024’s eventual The Mermaid Mask.

In continuation of the series’ established point-and-click gameplay, once more our esteemed hero, Detective Grimoire is back with another murder mystery to solve and this time, Magnus Mortuga is the victim and “the world’s strangest submarine” is our setting and just because it’s been five year’s since the last entry, none of the charm, wit and allure of Detective Grimoire has faded. Instead, it has only improved further.

With two previous titles available already and a demo for The Mermaid Mask available now on Steam, every effort has been made to get this series into as many hands as possible, so as long as you have played before or want to dive in for the first time, with an entire trilogy of games to play through, there is no better time than now to dive into the Detective Grimoire series.
