Since the introduction of the first Pokédex in 1996 with Pokémon Red & Pokémon Blue, nearly 28 years have passed and feeling as nostalgic as I am, I felt like doing Professor Oak.

I have revisited the original Kantonian Pokédex of 151 Pocket Monsters and have endeavoured to give it the modernised upgrades it deserves. Because of this fact, when compiling my revised Kantonian Pokédex on who made the cut, I done so with the following rules in mind:

Every Pokémon & Form Allowed to be included:

  1. Every baby / pre-evolution stage to a Gen 1 Pokémon
  2. Every “future discovered” / known evolution to a Gen 1 Pokémon
  3. Every Regional form of a Gen 1 Pokémon
  4. Every evolution to a Regional form of a Gen 1 Pokémon
  5. Every Mega form for a Gen 1 Pokémon
  6. Every Gigantamax form for a Gen 1 Pokémon
  7. Every Convergent Species Pokémon based on a Gen 1 Pokémon
  8. Every Paradox Pokémon based on a Gen 1 Pokémon
  9. The inclusion of Meltan & Melmetal, as both were included in the Kantonian Pokédex from Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!

With no further delay, here is my revised Kantonian Pokédex:

Admittedly, since Kanto and Johto share a border and a Pokémon League, one could argue Johtonian Pokémon could have easily migrated in the last 28 years, but that’s a fun little revision for another day. In the meantime, what do you think of the changes that did make the cut and are there any Pokémon you feel like I missed out on? Let me know in the comments below!

In 2015, when rumours of the NX and Zelda U were everywhere, my brother and I started Miketendo64 and we've been running it ever since. As the Editor-in-Chief, I have attended video gaming events in three different countries, been to preview events, and penned more than 4,000 articles to date, ranging from news, to features, reviews, interviews and guides. I love gaming and I love all things Nintendo. I also love Networking, so don't be afaid to reach out.
