Youtubers Life 2

Welcome to EXPlay, (Explain & Play) the review series where we care not for scores but tell it how it is when it comes to every game we get our hands on, whilst also taking the time to include some lengthy gameplay, to give you the reader, the chance to shape your own impressions and views whilst watching and reading. In this installment, we’re covering Youtubers Life 2 by developer UPLAY Online.

Youtubers Life 2

Youtubers Life 2: (The Explanation)

Do you aspire to be a world famous YouTuber? Well, though it might be a lot tougher than you think in real life, UPLAY Online and Raiser Games have a video game that will help you realise your dream, at least in a virtual setting with Youtubers Life 2.

Youtubers Life 2 is a simulation game that puts you in the shoes of an aspiring Youtuber who creates content for their channel, be it music, cooking, video games, etc. The game continues on from the events of the first entry in the series Youtubers Life. Upon successfully becoming a Youtuber and deciding to take it to the next level, your avatar is invited to the stay capital city of aspiring Youtubers, NewTube City.

Within the first few minutes of booting up Youtubers Life 2, you will be told to create an avatar who will represent you in-game. You will be given a selection of customization options to choose your hair type and color as well as your eyes face, clothing and shoes. You can spend quite a while here but things like hairstyles and clothing can be changed by going to the hairdressers or purchasing new clothes at clothing stores.

For my playthrough of the game, I opted for being a video game-focused content creator to parallel what I do IRL (but hopefully more sucessfully in-game). As the game begins, it takes you through a tutorial of sorts to help you create and edit your videos and eventually publish them for all the world to see.

Unlike in the first game where you rarely leave the house except for events and things, Youtubers Life 2 has a whole city for you to explore with distinct buroughs like Downtown, the Port and City Hall that are designed around certain activities like gaming, music, restaurants, and style. You can walk around the town and talk to NPC’s who some may be fellow Youtubers that you can interact with and potentially collab with them later on.

When you create and publish videos, you will generate some income. You won’t earn much in the begininning and may only make a few dollars or so a day but as your subscriber count and views go up, you will earn much more. It isn’t the only source of income either as you can take on commissions to earn some extra cash. The money you earn can be spent on better equipment, clothing, and other items so you can continue on your rise to fame.

To help mentor you on your way to greatness as a Youtuber, you will come across world famous IRL Youtubers like PewDiePie and RUBIUS. They can provide you with special tips on how to improve your status as a Youtuber and by collaborating with them, you will be able to increase your popularity in-game.

Youtubers Life 2 is one of those simulation games that seems like a ridiculous idea and while it does very much fantisize the idea of becoming a Youtuber, it is still surprisingly addictive. It also provides a fun learning curve that helps you understand how to use social media to your advantage like taking advantage of trends. In fact, some of the things that I have learned Youtubers Life 2 I may have to implement in real life. Even if it is only to improve the quality of our own YouTube videos.
