Best known for hosting The Game Awards, the notorious Geoff Keighley is set to produce another event dedicated to video games, in the form of gamescom: Opening Night.

gamescom and Geoff Keighley partner to create “gamescom: Opening Night Live”


gamescom, the world’s largest event for computer and video games, today announced that its 2019 show will kick off in grand style with “gamescom: Opening Night Live,” a new live event and stream produced by Geoff Keighley, host and producer of The Game Awards, the video game industry’s annual awards show.

gamescom: Opening Night Live, produced in English, will air live in front of more than 1,000 fans in Cologne, Germany to give gamers worldwide an overview of what to expect during gamesom week. This brand-new program will feature announcements from major game publishers and independent developers, world premieres of new game footage and special guest appearances from the stars of the gaming industry.

Geoff Keighley: “Gaming is a shared passion around the world, and every time I attend gamescom I am energized by the passion and excitement from the community in Cologne. The team and I are thrilled to be in Europe this summer to produce this show and share gamescom with the global video game audience.”

gamescom: Opening Night Live will stream live on Monday August 19, 2019 at 8pm CEST, 2pm EDT, 11am PDT from Cologne, Germany. More Information will be announced in the coming months.
