GoldenEye 007 Cheats

GoldenEye 007 is back after a long hiatus and is now playable on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo 64-Nintendo Switch Online+ Expansion Pack. The gem of a game has it all with first-person shooter action, explosive graphics, fantastic multiplayer and best of all, Cheats!

There are a lot of GoldenEye 007 Cheats and unlockables and in this guide we will be going over how you can unlock them legitimately or by using input codes. In this guide you will find the times you will need to beat in order to unlock the cheats the “proper” way and we also have the input codes to unlock them instantly. These codes all worked on the Nintendo 64 game but you may have trouble trying to input them in the Nintendo Switch version of the game. The reason being that the Pro Controller does not have its own C-buttons so you have to use a combination of ZR and the A,B,Y,X buttons in order to input them but we will look into them in a bit.

Unlockable Codes – GoldenEye 007

First off, to unlock the cheats without the use of codes, you will have to beat the best times in each of the levels in the game on different difficulties. That sounds simple enough but you do have to complete all of the objectives that correspond with each difficulty. Some of the times are quite tough to beat and you may find yourself lucky to beat them with half a second to spare. Still, if you are up for the challenge, here is a table with all the unlockable codes:

Input Codes – GoldenEye 007

*Note: These cheats work on the N64 version of the game but have yet to be tested on the Nintendo Switch version. As the game is being emulated from the original N64 game, there shouldn’t be any issue with using them in the Switch version. Should you have any trouble, please do let us know.

If you don’t have the time to unlock each code one by one, you can also gain access to them by inputting a series of button presses. These can be quite tricky as some require you to hold down multiple buttons at once (like the L+R buttons and a C-button, for example). Another issue is that if you are playing with Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, you will need to hold down the ZR button and use A,B,X,Y (alternatively, you can also use the Right Joystick) in order to simulate the button presses of the C-buttons. If you were lucky enough to acquire the Nintendo 64 controller for Nintendo Switch, you should have an easier time with the codes.

The codes below can be inputted on the Cheat Menu. You may need to unlock a cheat or beat the game in order for the cheat menu to be accessible from the File Selection screen. In the table below, we have two variations of the same codes to make it easier to input them depending on the controller you are using. (ZR+A,B,Y,X) In the brackets, you will have to hold down the ZR button and to turn the A,B,Y,X buttons into the C-buttons. Anywhere a + is visible, it means you have to hold them buttons down. Where there is a comma in the code, you can then release the buttons and start with the next button sequence. All codes will make a sound if inputted successfully.

  1. I delayed playing the main campaign in this game due to the tedious work required to [even attempt] to unlock everything (and it being new to Nintendo Switch Online and “soaking in” some nostalgia by having fun with multiplayer mode and watching and listening to the demos). However, to open the multiplayer levels, I have started playing it. As of this writing, I have finished through the second Bunker mission. (Those Surface missions have nice background music and nice scenery but are treacherous to go through.) I observed, however, that the multiplayer level does not appear to be unlocked. How are the multiplayer levels (after the Facility) unlocked? Are they unlocked at the same time as the cheats? If so, I might find myself not playing those then (especially since I am currently focusing on the Agent difficulty only and might not go further in the single-player campaign due to my struggles that I had with the Surface missions [especially the second]). I read once about an Easter egg in Mario Kart 64 related to idling the game for a certain period of time. https://www.svg.com/1182146/the-alleged-mario-kart-64-easter-egg-that-occurs-after-15-minutes-on-the-results-screen/
This game has a similar Easter egg in Bunker 2. After James Bond speaks with Natalya, if the player waits long enough, Bond and Natalya with begin conversing with their jailer. After a while, the jailer becomes annoyed and walks in a small circular (or semicircular) path. Something that I did not remember about that mission is that Bond starts it unarmed. His only methods of attacking the jailer are either his hand or the throwing knives near his cell (which cannot be acquired without use of the watch magnet attract tool).

    1. Hi there Caleb. I can’t remember too much the unlock conditions for the multiplayer stages but they are dependent on how many players are playing. Some stages will only allow up to three players to play on them and some stages, only two. One of the reasons apparently was that there were too many issues and not enough time to fix them before the game’s original release so the devs just soft locked them instead.

    2. Another interesting tidbit is that in the N64 version of the game, if you used a Gameshark cartridge, you could access more of stages like facility and archives. Unfortunately, the means to do so in the Switch version is not there. Not sure about Xbox though.

  2. How do you input the codes? I’m really confused. Do I input this button combination while in game play? Which joy stick is used for up, down, left, right, or am I supposed to use the pads below the left joy stick? This whole ordeal is so confusing for the Pro controller. I’m old so this is difficult haha. Thanks!

    1. Hi there Joshua, to input these codes you have to do it on the main menu (where it says Single Player, Multiplayer, and eventually Cheats). The left, up, down right inputs can be added by using the D-pad, though for extra precision, you could use the Joy-Con as the individual buttons will leave less room for error. Hope this helps.

  3. How do the button inputs translate to Xbox Series S? I’m having trouble unlocking Invincibility the traditional way. and I’m tempted to turn what I already have on to do the Facility level faster.

    1. Hello Clifford, to be honest, I don’t know the control layout on Xbox or Xbox Series S, I can only guess that it may be similar to Switch but if I was to hazard a guess. There should be a control scheme layout in the game’s pause menu that may show what the controls are. If GoldenEye is a part of the Rare Replay, the control scheme may even be in separate menu somewhere. As for the cheats themselves. Even though they work fine on Switch, you can’t rely on the cheats to beat the game. With cheats on, you won’t be able to progress through to the next level. You will only be able to use them on levels you have already unlocked. I hope this helps.

      1. actually if you use the in-mission inputs for Invincibility you’ll still be able to go to the next level on the Switch version. as to the controls for the Xbox Series S/X controller it’s almost identical but the Y and B buttons are where the A and X buttons are on the Switch Pro Controller. and the + and – buttons are different as well. also the share button that you capture snapshots and create video clips looks like a download icon on the Xbox controller. the home button is replace with the Xbox Guide button which s the Xbox logo as a button and lastly the bumper and trigger buttons are named LB, RB, LT and RT.

        1. Hey there, thanks for helpful information! I’m a total noob when it comes to Xbox so I do appreciate it when someone can provide advice that can help others.
          Cheers!
