What are Paper Mario: The Origami King Collectible Treasures?
Collectible Treasures are trinkets that represent items and characters that you can encounter in Paper Mario: The Origami King. There are 120 of them to find in total and they are scattered all over the world. Some can be bought in shops as souvenirs, others are given to you by NPC’s as gifts or prizes but the grand majority are found in chests and hidden blocks, tucked away in any nook and cranny of each region you will visit.
Any collectible treasures you find will automatically be sent to the Museé Champignon (Mushroom Museum) in Toad Town. From there you can get a good look at each collectible closely and admire your growing collection.
Useful Tips on Paper Mario: The Origami King Collectible Treasures
Finding the Paper Mario: The Origami King Collectible Treasures really is a task in itself. Fortunately, there are a couple of items in-game that can help you find the general vicinity of these collectible treasures.
Treasure Alert – This item is an accessory that you can purchase from the Monty Mole Merchant in Breezy Tunnel. It is an absolute must as it will make a sound and show a bell icon if you are near a collectible treasure.
Hidden Block Alert – This is another accessory that is used to find hidden Blocks. Like the Treasure Alert, it will make a sound and show a bell icon when a hidden block is near. It can be purchased from the Accessories Merchant in Shroom City.
Hidden Block Unhider – This is a gadget that is given to you by the Toad Researcher in the Main Sensor Lab on Picnic Road. Equip this when you are close to a hidden block and it can lead you to its exact location.
It will buzz louder when you are close and will flash in the direction of the hidden Block. When some treasures are locked in hidden blocks, this item will come in handy to find their exact location.
Paper Mario: The Origami King Collectible Treasures Locations
To make things a little easier as there are so many Collectible Treasures, we are going to list each one by region and the number associated with them. Bear in mind that some treasures may only be collected after certain story progression has been met. These are usually treasures that are found in shops or given to you as rewards.
STARTING AREA
The following locations are found leading up to Princess Peach’s Castle
Whispering Woods
No. 1: Peach’s Castle – In the area with the leaf matching mini-game, match up all of the pairs to be rewarded a Super Star. This will make you temporarily invincible so you can cross the spiky section to reach the chest with this treasure.
No. 2: Mushroom – In a chest to the left of the revitalizing Spring.
3: Ol’ Grandsnappy – After finding the Big Shell in the Great Sea, return to the bonfire in Whispering Woods to cook the shell (you must ignite the flames with the Fire Vellumental power first). You will free the Toad that lives in the Log Cabin. Go inside the cabin and talk to the Toad and he will give you the Ol’ Grandsnappy collectible treasure.
Toad Town
No. 4: Torch from Peach’s Castle – From where you beat the first Paper Macho, head under the ramp/bridge to find a chest containing this treasure.
No. 5: Camp Speaker – In a Chest in the backyard of a cottage.
No. 6: Coins – On the top of Toad Mansion. Hit the blue parasol to the right of the Mansion and use the 1,000-Fold Arms on the wall to make a ledge to reach the top of the mansion.
No. 7: Colored Pencils – After beating the Colored Pencils boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and hit the barrel at the end of the pier to wake up a Monty Mole, he will sell you this collectible.
No. 8: Rubber Band – After beating the Rubber Band boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and see Monty Mole to purchase this collectible.
No. 9: Hole Punch – After beating the Hole Punch boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and see Monty Mole to purchase this collectible.
No. 10: Tape – After beating the Tape boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and see Monty Mole to purchase this collectible.
No. 11: Scissors – After beating the Scissors boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and see Monty Mole to purchase this collectible.
No. 12: Stapler – After beating the Stapler boss, Go to the docks behind the red brick building and see Monty Mole to purchase this collectible.
No. 13: Log Cabin – Once you find all the Toads in the desert, the owners of Toad Mansion will unlock the door on the second floor so you can get this treasure.
No. 14: Mario – Rewarded to you after returning the manhole hook to the Toad under the building near the sewer entrance.
No. 15: Bowser – Rewarded to you after beating every single boss in the Bossmotronic Machine in the Battle Lab.
No. 119: Princess Peach – After completing the main story, you can purchase this treasure from the General Store in Toad Town.
No. 120: Origami Cranes – After completing the main story, this treasure can be found at the entrance to Toad Town.
Graffiti Underground
No. 16: Manhole Cover – Use the 1,000-Fold Arms Magic Circle to turn a valve. It will lower the water level so you can reach a chest with this treasure.
RED STREAMER
The following locations you will visit during the search for the Red Streamer.
Picnic Road
No. 22: Shellvation is Near – Can be purchased from the merchant outside the Earth Vellumental Temple.
No. 23: Vellumental Idol – After beating the Earth Vellumental, you can purchase this treasure from the merchant outside the temple.
No. 24: Sensor Lab – Once you clear the first streamer, revisit the “Cute” Mushroom-shaped building on Picnic Road. In an area to the right of the Sensor Lab is a chest containing this treasure.
Overlook Mountain
No. 17: Lush Greenery – From where you first enter this area, head up to the left onto the ridge. You will find a chest with this treasure.
No. 18: Paper Macho Goomba – From the Monty Mole you bought one of the stones from. Go under the bridge to the left of the Mole to find a chest.
No. 19: Sap Sister – Head to the Fishing Spot and head to the left hand side to find a small cave with a chest containing this treasure.
No. 20: Folded Bowser – At the Fishing Spot, look for a sparkling fish. Reel it in to collect this treasure.
No. 21: Paper Macho Shy Guy – In the area with the three Paper Macho Shy Guys playing football (Soccer). Head south to find a path leading to a chest with this treasure.
Earth Vellumental Temple
No. 25: Earth Vellumental Relief – In the room full of spikes and the two sliding platforms, there is a ledge to the left side that has a chest with this treasure.
No. 26: Rocks – In the room with multiple sliding obstacles, there is a chest at the far right of the room next to a Not-Bottomless hole.
No. 27: Pipe – Just before the main boss room, there is a hidden block to the left of the entrance.
Overlook Tower
No. 28: Chef TRULY WILD Special – After clearing the Red Streamer, talk to the chef at the restaurant to receive this treasure.
No. 29: Overlook Tower – After clearing the Red Streamer, talk to the Toad at the coffeeshop on the 4th floor of the tower. The toad will gift you this treasure.
BLUE STREAMER
The following locations you will visit during the search for the Blue Streamer.
Autumn Mountain
No. 30: Fallen Leaves – From the lake with all the boats (it can be dried up or full of water depending on your own progress) head down the staircase on the right side of this area and you will find a chest under the staircase with this treasure in it.
No. 31: Toad Tram – Near the Sensor lab in this region, follo the ridge along the right side to find this treasure.
No. 32: Confetti Bag – Near the Water Vellumental Cave, there is a ledge on the right side that leads to a green pipe. Instead of going south to the pipe, follow the ledge north to be taken to a chest with this treasure.
No. 33: Toad Researcher – After beating the Water Vellumental, head back to the area with the boats and cross over them to reach an area with a chest containing this treasure.
Chestnut Valley
No. 34: Sturdy Crates – After dropping from the bridge where Bobby fell off, you will wind up in an area with a ramp on the south side. Follow it to find a chest with this treasure.
No. 35: Sign – After rescuing Bobby, you will find a ledge with a chest containing this treasure.
No. 36: Spinning Shells – You can get this one after beating the Goombas just past the Spiked Balls falling down the mountain.
Water Vellumental Shrine
No. 37: Restaurant Fridge – In the first room of the temple, head to the lower level and and follow the lower most path on the right side and then all the way left to find a chest with this treasure.
No. 38: Max Up Heart – On the lower level of the first room in the temple head to where the left side water container is floating. Hit the hidden blocks on the floor to make a path to the opening in the wall. Go inside the opening to find a chest with this hidden treasure.
No. 39: POW Block – In the first room, go through the door on the right side into a room with loads of large breakable blocks. Follow the windows abover you until they end on the wall and break the blocks in the indentation. It will reveal a path up behind the windows to a chest with this treasure.
Shogun Studios
No. 40: Downriver Tour Boat –Purchase a Royalty Pass from the vending machine. Then enter Shogun Studios. In the first house to the left you will find a chest with this treasure.
No. 41: Chestnuts – With the Royalty Pass, head into the café. at the back end of the café there is a chest with this treasure.
No. 42: Water Vellumental’s Wheel – Head towards the lookout tower at the Northwest area of Shogun Studios. Head up through the gate and enter the building on the left. You will find a chest with this treasure.
No. 43: Relaxing Bench – Head to the Northeast area of Shogun Studios. You will find this chest hidden under a tree near the Staff Room.
No. 44: Paper Mario Koopa Troopa – In the Shuriken throwing Minigame, earn 80 points or higher in expert mode.
No. 45: Canned Tuna – In the Shogun Studios Fishing Spot, catch the sparkling fish to collect this treasure.
No. 46: Big Sho’ Theater – After clearing the Blue Streamer, return to the shop to purchase this treasure.
No. 47: Canned Food Party Trio – After acquiring the master key, go to the area with the Ninjis breathing through reed in a pond. Head into the building at the far end to gain access to the chest with this treasure.
No. 48: Lookout Tower Bell – After clearing the Yellow Streamer, the park will be fully open again. Go to the Lookout Tower and ring the bell 100 times to collect this treasure. There will be a toad next to the bell (if you found him) who will count the amount of times you have rung the bell.
No. 49: Water Vellumental Shrine – Hit the hidden block to the left of the House of riddles to lay claim to this treasure.
Ninja Attraction
No. 50: Luigi – This treasure can be found the House of Ninjas by hitting the drawers in the cabinet stairs in the room before the Thwomps.
No. 51: Ninja Signs – This treasure will be rewarded to you upon finding all Toad Signs in the house of Ninjas.
No. 52: Bob-omb – After saving Luigi in the House of Tricky Ninjas, the shuriken platform outside the attraction will now be moving. Ride it to the other side to find a chest with this treasure.
Big Sho’ Theater
No. 53: Paper Macho Outlaw – On the main stage, head behind the curtain on the left hand side to find a chest with this treasure.
YELLOW STREAMER
The following locations you will visit during the search for the Yellow Streamer
Breezy Tunnel
No. 57: Huge Rock – Inside the area of Breezy Tunnel with the Monty Moles, You can find a breakable wall on one of the storeys that will have a path leading to a chest with this treasure.
No. 58: Important Box – In a room off the large area, you can find a chest on a raised platform, use the hole in the back of the room to find a path leading up to this chest.
Desert Major
No. 60: Boot Car – To the far right area looking for a shining digging spot. Get Professor Toad to dig up the spot to reveal this treasure.
No. 61: Cactus – Just south of the Toad Tower, there is a shining digging spot. Get Professor Toad to dig up the spot to reveal this treasure.
No. 64: Temple of Shrooms Statues – Head back to the room under the Sun Altar where you find Captain T. Ode, frozen in ice. Hit the hiden block next to the crate on the left side of the room and then jump up on the crate to find another hidden block. Inside the second hidden block is this treasure.
Desert Far West
No. 62: Mega Paper Macho Pokey – Look for a Cactus that is surrounded by rocks in a rectangular shape. Break all the rocks to get access to this treasure.
Desert Minor
No. 63: Professor Toad – After the Temple of Shrooms has risen from the sands, go behind the temple to find a shining digging spot. Get Professor Toad to dig it up to find this treasure.
Desert East
No. 59: Paper Macho Boo – In the top-right section of this area where the ruins can be found, there is a chest with this treasure in it.
Shroom City
No. 65: Snif City Royal Hotel – Once all the rescued Toads have returned to the city, head to the shop outside of the hotel where a merchant will have this treasure on sale.
No. 66: Bag of Confetti – Go to the record shop and head to the back wall and climb up to go through a hole in the left wall. It will take you into the room next door where there is a chest containing this treasure.
No. 67: Ring Trainer – Head into the hotel reception area and go through the corridor on the left. The first hotel room here will have a chest containing this treasure.
No. 68: Golden Snifit Statue – This is found in a patch of grass in the area where the broken steps lead to. Use Professor Toad to dig up the spot to reveal this treasure.
No. 69: Desert Tower – Once Luigi has been rescued from the Lamp scam Fortune telling booth, he will give you a key to his suite in the hotel. In the Suite you will find a chest with this treasure.
No. 70: Lamp Scam – When all toads return to Shroom City, a Toad can be found at the Fortune Telling Booth selling lamps. Purchase one which will turn out to be this treasure.
Fire Vellumental Cave
No. 71: Fire Flower – In the room where there are two Fire Koopas throwing fireballs, you can find the chest with this treasure.
Temple of Shrooms
No. 72: Fire Vellumental – In the room to the right of the first faceless Toad encounter there is a chest to the far right of the room surrounded by Boos and Spiders. Open the chest to get this treasure.
No. 73: Temple of the Shrooms – Head to the room under the Spiderwebs via one of the sarcophagus’s above. Head to the lower left area of this room to find a small square patch of sand. Get Professor Toad to dig it up to reveal this treasure.
PURPLE STREAMER
The following locations you will visit during the search for the Purple Streamer. The Great Sea also happens to be the largest area of the game. Fortunately, after you acquire the Sea Chart that is segmented by a handy grid, you should have little problems finding all the treasures in this area.
The Great Sea
All of the following treasures except for No. 80, require the Submarine “Marino” to dive for them. Their exact locations within each grid coordinate can be given to you when you rescue Toads on the surrounding islands.
No. 80: Shangri Spa – This treasure will be awarded to you by the last Toad Statue after you have activated them all on the other islands in the Great Sea.
No. 81: Paper Macho Mummy Goomba – Dive E-5.
No. 82: Healing Hearts – Dive D-3.
No. 83: Spade Island Barrel – Dive D-2.
No. 84: DJ Booth – Dive G-3.
No. 85: Training Mannequin – Dive B-3.
No. 86: Origami Workbench – Dive D-6.
No. 87: Paper Macho Stone Spike – Dive the line that separates C-3 and D-3.
No. 88: King Shroomses’ Coffin – Dive A-1.
No. 89: Paper Macho Gooper Blooper – Dive G-7.
The Princess Peach
No. 54: Block – Head behind stairs by the Swimming Pool to reach the starboard gangway. Here there is a chest with this Treasure.
No. 55: Super Star – In the Wheelhouse, there is a chest containing this treasure.
No. 56: The Princess Peach – After rescuing all the Toads in the Great Sea (including those taped to the side of the Sea Tower, return to the Princess Peach to be given this treasure by the Sea Captain.
Note: The Captain of the Princess Peach has to pick up the passengers first, so you may have to revisit the boat twice. On the second visit, head to the bridge and speak with the Captain again to recieve this treasure.
Bonehead Island
No. 74: Submarine “Marino” – Found in a chest in the far left room of the large Skull on Bonehead Island.
Crescent Moon/Full Moon Island
No. 75: Paper Macho Koopa Paratroopa – Go to the Fishing Spot on this islan and look out for a sparkling sihloette. Fish it out to claim this treasure.
? Island
No. 76: ? Block – Head to the underside of ? island to find a cave with a chest containing this treasure.
No. 77: Sea Captain Toad – Drop down from the top of ? Island to find a ledge with a Not Bottomless Hole in the shape of a Sensor Lab. You will find a chest containing this treasure.
Hammer Island
No. 78: Hammer – On the left ridge of Hammer Island, there is a chest with this treasure.
No. 79: Captain T. Ode – Get on top of the crate on the far left side of Hammer Island. Jump up to hit a hidden block with this treasure inside it.
Ice Vellumental Mountain
No. 90: Paper Macho Buzzy Beetle – On the Spiral staircase leading up to the Ice Vellumental, there is a chest with this treasure.
No. 91: Ice Vellumental Bust – Look for a door with a Bear on it. Don’t go in, instead head right to find a chest next to a pipe. The chest contains this treasure.
No. 92: Origami Craftsman – Before taking the big jump, drop to the left of the ramp you will find a chest nearby with this treasure.
No. 93: Diamond Island – After sliding out of the Ice Vellumental Temple, you can find a chest in the lower left area behind the left Bear Statue.
Sea Tower
No 94: Sea Captain Toad’s Boat – In the first room to the left, use the moving platforms to find a crevice with a chest inside. Open it to get this treasure.
GREEN STREAMER
The following locations you will visit during the search for the Green Streamer.
Shangri-Spa
No. 95: Earth Vellumental Idol – Upon leaving the main building head up and right along the fence. There will be an opening that will lead you to a chest with this treasure.
No. 96: Water Vellumental Idol – Head towards the little market stands left of the first bridge. Head south from the stands to find a ridge that will take you to a chest with this treasure.
No. 97: Fire Vellumental Idol – From the main area, head to the left until you find a moving platform. Ride the platform and it will take you to a chest with this treasure.
No. 98: Ice Vellumental Idol – When you are outside of Bowser’s Castle, there is a pillar on the right side that can be knocked down. Hit it with your hammer and use the pillar to reach the chest to the right of Bowser’s Castle entrance. Inside the chest is this treasure.
No. 99: Water Buckets – Head towards the Jungle Spring, you will find a floating platform on the left. Ride it to an area that will have a chest with this treasure.
No. 100: Sea Tower – In the courtyard, find and talk to Spike, If you give him 10,000 coins, he will give you this treasure.
No. 101: Shangri-Spa Fountain – In the courtyard, find and talk to the Shy Guy, If you give him 10,000 coins, he will give you this treasure.
No. 102: Shangri-Spa Toad – At the Market Stalls, you can buy this treasure from the blue stand.
No. 103: Boss Sumo Bro Cloud – Head up to Bowser’s Castle. Just before you go inside, head to the left behind the columns to find a chest with this treasure.
Spring of Jungle Mist
No. 104: Bowser Jr – From making the second route choice, find a hidden wall that has acess to a sandy area. Here, there is a chest with this treasure.
No. 105: Sweet Sap Loggins – From making the third route choice, you will find a tree stump with a chest on in it. Open it to collect this treasure.
No. 106: Stamp Booth – Just before the ladder that takes you up the big tree, follow one of the paths to find a chest with this treasure in it.
No. 107: Kamek – As you climb the large tree, you will find a path on the left hand side that leads to a chest with this treasure.
Spring of Rainbows
No. 108: Sudden Death Cannon – Win the Sudden Death Round of Shy Guys Finish Last. You will be rewarded with this treasure.
Bowser’s Castle
No. 109: Paper Macho Chain Chomp – From the main hall, head through the door on the right to the Minion’s Quarters. Enter another door that is surrounded by Koopa Troopa Statues. Go inside and you will find a chest on a bed with this treasure.
No. 110: Paper Macho Piranha Plant – In the Minion’s Quarters, find a door surrounded by Spike Statues. Go inside and look behind the chest to find this treasure. Inside the Chest hides a Folded Tropper Spike.
No. 111: Cutout Soldiers – Head to the room where Bowser’s Airship is docked/was docked. Head all the way to the right behind the crates to find a chest with this treasure.
No. 112: Bowser’s Airship – After clearing the Green Streamer and survived the Air battle against the origami planes, go back to the Airship hanger to find a Shy Guy. Talk to him and he will give you this treasure.
ORIGAMI CASTLE
The following treasures are found inside the Origami Castle after clearing all the Streamers that bound Peach’s Castle. The treasures are not hidden in chests but golden ? Blocks that are covered over by gold stickers.
Origami Castle
No. 113: Luigi’s Kart – In the second room of the Origami Castle, pull on a gold sticker on the floor to reveal a ? Block. Hit it with your hammer to get this treasure.
No. 114: Bullet Bill – In the room with the Boomerang Bros on. There are four hidden blocks under a gold sticker in the lower left platform. Pull the stickers and hit the blocks. In one of them is the treasure.
No. 115: Paper Plane Squadron – In the room where you must use the 1,000-Fold Arms to erect a small building. Inside is a hidden block under a gold sticker. Pull the sticker and hit the block to get this treasure.
No. 116: Paper Macho Crater Crashers – In the room with the moving blocks that you must whack with the 1,000-Fold Arms. In the lower right corner by the steps, there is a hidden block under a gold sticker. You the “Pull and Whack” procedure that you have used on all the other blocks to collect this treasure.
No. 117: Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle – In the room with the moving blocks. Line them up and look for a hidden block suspended above the moving platform second from the right. Jump up to hit it and collect this treasure.
No. 118: Origami Castle – Just before you finally reach the throne room, there is a bench with a block opposite it. Hit it to collect this treasure.
