It seems that Super Smash Bros Ultimate really was the icing on the cake for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. It was reported earlier this week that the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Sales had reached 3 million copies in the US in just 11 days. Japan has also chimed in, saying that they have sold 1.2 million copies. Europe was a bit cryptic. Stating that they have sold 30% more copies than Mario Kart Wii did during it’s launch week back in 2008. Australia have also said that Super Smash Bros Ultimate was one of the fastest selling games on home consoles in the region.
Japanese business media outlet Nikkei has reported that the worldwide sales for Super Smash Bros Ultimate so far has reached 5 million copies, in only it’s first week! That is pretty incredible and I suppose releasing close to the Holiday season has paid off for Nintendo. There will be quite a lot of Parents of the Year awards going out this festive season.
I must say, I think is pretty incredible that Super Smash Bros Ultimate sales have done so well. Even though it contains both physical and digital sales. 5 million copies sold is still quite impressive in such a short amount of time. The game has also become the fastest selling Switch game and fastest selling game in the series.
