Back in 2016, before Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon released, something particularly interested was revealed during an interview. Speaking with Game Informer, Sun & Moon director Junichi Masuda, revealed there were plans to develop some form of connectivity between the 3DS games and Pokémon GO. Clearly, such a thing didn’t happen, but could be if all the Let’s Go! Pikachu and Let’s Go! Eevee rumours are true, but come November 18 when the games released there was no connectivity and no tie-in.

I had hope Niantic would bring Alolan variants to Pokémon GO, and they didn’t. They didn’t even do it a year later when Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon released, but Alolan forms are coming regardless. As part of a new post by Niantic, not only are Alolan variants coming, but they’ll be here in the coming weeks. The full announcement can be seen below:

These unique variants were first seen in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, and they will make their way to Pokémon GO in the coming weeks.
