While it might be some time before we get to learn of a release date for Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, Capcom are wasting no time with sharing additional information about the title, so let’s dive right in shall we?

 

“Way of the Hero Mode” (aka Unleash Ha-DO-Ken):

  • First person mode where you play as Ryu, who must take down the Shadaloo soldiers who put themselves in his path to M. Bison.
  • With a Joy-con in each hand, players can unleash Hadokens and Shoryukens thanks to motion controls and specific button combinations.
  • Stage Mode consists of defeating a set number of enemies to clear a certain stage.
  • Endless mode has you fighting until you run out of life and die.
  • Training mode is a place where you can go and practice your skills and perfect your techniques.
  • Growth points are rewarded, but how much you get depends on how you did.
  • Growth points can be used to increase Ryu’s Attack, Speed, Guts Defence, Luck and Vital stats.

High-Resolution Illustration Gallery:

  • In Ultra Street Fighter II there is a gallery mode that will allow you to browse through 1,400 “carefully selected illustrations” from SF20: The Art of Street Fighter.
  • Each image is 250 dpi high-resolution so zooming in on even the smallest text is not only possible, but doable and is something of an “irresistible new feature.”

Color Edit:

  • Ultra Street Fighter II also has a color edit feature that allows you to change the colours of your characters and “store them.
  • Up to 10 edited colours can be stored for each characters and these coloured characters can be used in Arcade mode versus and online battles.
  • Colours can be customized intuitively using the touch-screen.

Going by everything we’ve seen so far, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers is shaping up to be one hell of an interesting title that could even give Smash a run for its money!
