Pokémon GO User Jimmy Derocher was given a soft ban for his attempts to earn 1 million XP in 24 hours. He was trying to legitimately earn experience by grinding Pokémon with catches, evolutions, Lucky eggs and hitting PokéStops in a loop whilst using lures. As soon as Jimmy had hit the 600K mark, the game’s anti-cheating measures came into motion and all of a sudden, Jimmy couldn’t catch anymore Pokémon, they would run away as soon as he tried to catch them.
This was a method that Niantic came up with to stop Cheaters from amassing too much XP too quickly. It is a shame that Jimmy was a legitimate player and has been punished even though he was using legitimate measures to play. He has been given a soft ban of 24 hours.
